This is an old video created in 2009. I had my old camcorder at the time. I heartily prefer my HD-DSLR these days. This is the story of Barry who wants nothing more than to wake up on christmas day and open his presents. Too bad for all of us that Santa doesn't exist. That jerk. Exist, damn you, exist!

We had a great first meeting of the Short Sighted Comedy group. Lots of good energy and ideas floating around the room. It looks like Pete's urinal sketch will be one of the first ones produced. Don't worry. This is not going to be some grade-school humor sketch. We said at the meeting that we're not interested in fart jokes. The sketch is more about the awkwardness of chatty strangers during what would otherwise be "private time." I'm really looking forward to working with this group. Write! Create characters! Bring ideas!

An inspiring article on independence

Ryan Koo over at nofilmschool.com wrote an inspiring open letter to an actor friend which started me plotting to take over the world again. It's not that I've taken over the world before, it's just that my need has resurfaced. This is the time for creative people to make their own content. We must stop waiting for other people to make the project that we want to be part of. Make your own content. Make your own luck. This new sketch comedy group has me very excited. We need to crank out some funny and start racking up the hits on youtube. Short Sighted Comedy will become synonymous with funny, quality videos. Who's with me?

Language was shown at the Flick: Magnet Video Showcase

Our little scene "Language" was chosen for this month's Flick: Magnet Video Showcase at the Magnet Theater on W. 29th St. in Manhattan. I and one of my co-stars, Roy, attended the screening. It was great to see what else is being produced locally under the "sketch" banner. Some were pretty raw and simple, but funny. It made me reassess my goals regarding video sketch comedy. I still prefer a bit more production value, but in the event I get to the point of thinking that a certain scene will just be too much work I will have to take a step back and remind myself that a simpler production might be the better plan. I have a need to create more content and if that means a few productions look a bit more raw then so be it.

Sandwich Series – Vol. 1

Over breakfast with my friends Brett and Rachel an idea was born. Rachel pitched an idea to me that she had mentioned before. Two people standing at a refrigerator arguing over who ate the sandwich. She even posed the name, “The Sandwich Series,” which stuck. This is the premise for a fledgling series of scenes based on a simple scenario. Hey! Who took my sandwich?

Language – the inmate scene

Description: An inmate gets a visit from one of his associates from the outside so they can talk “business.” A corrupt guard sets up the meeting in a secret room. The guard has only one rule, no swearing!

This is a little project I threw together in a week or two. I had an idea for a scene involving a prison inmate and someone who hits him for attempting to swear. I wrote a script and showed it to my writing partner Bob. He completely rewrote it and gave it back. Then I merged the two using about 80% of his script and 20% of mine. My friends Brett and Roy were nice enough to volunteer their time. Unfortunately since I was in the scene and also the camera operator there are some closeup shots of me that are blurry. Hope you enjoy it.
